Featured Artist for April 2008- Amanda Breitbach of Glendive, Montana.
Amanda was born in Circle, Montana and was raised on the family farm and ranch just north of town. After graduating from Circle High School she attended Montana State University in Bozeman where she studied Photography and French. Receiving her BS degree in 2004, she then joined the Peace Corps and served in Guinea, West Africa for two years as an Agro-Forestry volunteer. With her service ending in 2007, Amanda returned to eastern Montana where she nows works for the Glendive Ranger Review as a staff reporter and photographer.
Inspired by sun and sky, the people she meets and a perpetual sense of humor, Amanda enjoys photographing nearly everything. This showing at the Gallery includes Polaroid emulsion lifts from a series about land and our relationship to it, as well as traditional color prints from an ongoing series about "perspectives".
Amanda's work has been shown in juried expositions at the Helen E. Copeland Gallery, the Cheever Hall Lower Gallery and the Weaver Room at the Emerson Cultural Center in Bozeman. She was also invited as a solo exhibitor at the Lightwriter Gallery in Bozeman and her work was chosen Best Of Show at the Naked Negative exhibition in 2003. She is also currently organizing a show for the Dawson Community College (DCC) Gallery in Glendive.
