Featured Artist April 2009- Savage, Montana artist Trish Stevenson      Trish Stevenson grew up in the suburbs of Denver, Colorado, but she always felt a connection to the "cowboy" side of her family. Her great-grandparents raised horses for the U.S. Cavalry in western North Dakota and family vacations were always spent with her grandparents in the region. Dusty brandings and rodeos were her fondest childhood memories. Her grandfather was a bronc rider who told vivid tales of cowboys and wild horses on the badlands. She attended the Colorado Institute of Art with career plans in graphic design. Following a two-month study trip to Europe she began to understand that her true calling was fine art and she decided to further her studies of painting. She eventually moved to the ranch country of eastern Montana where today she continues to be inspired by the people, animals and the action of the West. Her greatest inspiration is the beauty and powerful spirit of the horse, which naturally finds its way into much of her work. Trish's work has been featured in the Western Horseman and Art Horse magazines. Locally she exhibits at the MonDak Heritage Center in Sidney and the Custer County Art Center in Miles City, Montana. Her works have been also exhibited at the American Academy of Equine Art in Lexington, Kentucky and in many national and regional shows across the Western United States. She is an active member of the Western Heritage Artists Association and the Pastel Society of the Northern Rockies. Her collected works may be seen on her website at Trish Stevenson Fine Art.
