Featuring the original photographic works of Georgia Gannon
Georgia was born in Jamestown, ND and grew up on a farm in Adrian, ND. She moved to Sidney, MT to teach in
1973, and settled in Glendive after marrying in 1976, where she raised three children and taught for fifteen years. Her passion for the arts led her
to incorporate art in everything she did: After school Art Club, mural paintings, After school theater and puppetry, snow sculpture
contests, and various Arts Fairs.
She attended Dickey High School in Dickey, ND, and graduated from Dickinson State University with a BS degree in Elementary
Education in 1973, and a Masters in Technology in Education from Lesley University in Cambridge, MA in 2000. Georgia started drawing as a
young child with parents and grandparents who encouraged her in every positive way. She received her first camera, a Kodak
Instamatic , when she was about 10 years old and has not stopped snapping pictures since!
Georgia attributes her artistic talent to her Father, an avid amateur photographer, master wood craftsmen,
and farmer, and her Grandma Rode, a watercolor artist. She considers herself basically self-taught with tips and techniques from various
artists and college level art classes, including Jackie Schultz at Dawson Ccommunity College. Her subjects consist of wildlife, horses, old buildings,
landscape, abstract, and portraits of all kinds: family, baby, maternity, senior/grad, wedding and events.
Today Georgia is a volunteer/assistant with her son Curtis
at Gannon Photography. She also manages her church website, and co-edits/publishes the church newsletter.
She says, "I truly believe God opened a window when the door closed for me to teach. That window is the art of photography. My main purpose
through my talent is to “pay it forward”...that others may find pleasure when they look at my artwork."
